Granite Paver Finishes Explained
A flamed finish is achieved with a high-intensity gas flame. This controlled process triggers thermal shock, which created granite's coveted slip-resistant and rugged surface.
In our range, our default finish is flamed. This creates textured surfaces suitable for outdoor use, providing good grip while still feeling pleasant underfoot.
Why Granite for Outdoor Spaces?
Granite stone is exceptionally durable in a wide range of situations from garden paving to pool coping and driveways. On the Mohs hardness scale, which runs from 1 to 10, granite typically ranges from 6 to 7. Even other natural stone doesn't compare; marble sits around 3 or 4 and limestone is usually at 3. Of our full range of natural stone, this is the only material we routinely recommend for vehicle traffic areas.

Darker granite like charcoal black absorbs more heat than lighter stone. The flamed finish creates a textured, less heat-retentive surface than polished granite - we can provide expert advice about colour and finish if bare feet are a priority.
Does granite need sealing in Perth conditions?
Granite is naturally dense and low-porosity, so it holds up well - but a quality impregnating sealer is still recommended to resist stains and make cleaning easier, particularly if used in pool surrounds.
